My comic is not allowed on the app, and I don't have the app XD I'm too old and curmudgeony for what these young whipper snappers are doing.
Legit, my phone is for texting, calling, and finding bus routes. I can't chance getting it hacked XD
Edit edit:
Edit edit edit I give up on life. It finally cleared
What gets me is that a lot of these are comics already featured on the home page. If I wasn't interested before, putting them in a list won't change that.
If I was going to check out any of them, it would be the originals or community titles, which aren't really there.
Just wanted to chime in! Looks like shit! Thanks Tapas. Oh, and I will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever read these generic churned out imitation manhwas no matter how many guns you put to my head, you can pull the trigger on me I do not care to see these things anymore
Wait it's doubly bad.
I just realised that it's not only the initial 5 billion message notifications we got the problem, it's ongoing.
Every time we get a little red "1" notification now we aren't going to know if it's an actual person or spam and have that same emotionnal rollercoaster.
Every. Single. Time.
They've reinvented spam email.
Yeah, I'll admit the 75 notification was a little suspicious to me. Combined with the change in icon, I thought it was a glitch, so I wasn't let down too much when I saw that it was all premium series. Logging in to see the much more reasonable "1" and finding out it's another premium series stung a lot more.
Ok, I finally got home from work and was able to log in on my computer instead of my iPhone (I don't use the app because I wanna see the "M" stuff and, simply, I hated the app, so I use Safari). On Safari on the iPhone it didn't even give the option of "mark all as read", so I've been staring at that G-D "77" all G-D day. Thankfully, once I opened up Chrome the option was there under that G-D "Messages" tab. Marked 'em all, now that notification is gone. For now.
Now then, another rant about these "Messages". Almost every one of the "offers" have expired before they were even offered. Talk about adding injury to insult.
When I first saw this change I was slightly annoyed but now I'm becoming more and more upset. I realize now that every time I login I'm going to see red numbers, and it will almost always be ads and not any actual engagement with my comic. I get so few comments and likes and this crap is going to bury it.
Yep, this is the annoying part, now they can just keep pushing and everyone has to check and mark it as read every time they come in for all these premium comics ads. Although I think that this was already done in mobile so they decided to bring it on par in the desktop, or in the browser version so no matter what, you have to put up with this. I think they really hope that it would draw some interest in their bland premium comics and hopefully some of them get hooked.
On mobile you can go to preferences and turn off push notifications individually for the different Inbox categories because there's no red number on the Inbox icon do you have to go by push notifications.
I obviously turned off everything but "activity". Hopefully there's a way to do that on desktop that we just haven't found yet.
I go on holiday and think of checking Tapas and see this idiotic change. Well I cleared by using the mark as read method.
Today got a bunch more. So we're expected to do this on a day by day basis?
One more nail. It's not like I get any more dedicated readers anyway. May as well just build my own website let my readers know and move on at this rate.
Hey all! I'm sending a big fat email to Tapas today with my thoughts and opinions on the new inbox.
Was hoping to have anyone's consent on screenshotting your thoughts too (and censoring your usernames) so that I may make a master email about this for the Tapas team to see.
I wanted to do it this way, just in case they only get a couple tickets about it. Though... I'm sure there's a lot more, lol. I just know some people don't like to even bother with this kind of stuff to push change, so I'm hoping to put a variety of voices in the email that make suggestions and share opinions about this change in particular.
I hope to describe to them that these changes, though seemingly small to them, really affect their user base... particularly the creators! We're all here using this platform to be a part of a community-driven network to reach out to people with our work and essentially get our work SEEN. This doesn't make us feel very seen... In fact, it makes us feel like they've lost touch with what the community of creators needs.
Please let me know! I'll wait till end of day, and whomever consents to me quoting you in the email, I'll be sure to include you. Anyone who doesn't respond or says no, you have my word that I won't screenshot or quote you in the email!
Feel free to quote anything you like from my comment!
