My character Night Twink1 is an amalgamation of ideas really, he's visibly meant to look like a kind of Bel Ami model, maybe a little more rugged, however he's experienced the whole vapid aspect of gay life and quickly moved beyond it. Given that there are few characters portrayed like him in popular culture (that i know of), it's hard to convey to others where I've drawn inspiration from, however, I wanted the "twink" aspect of his character to be projected on him by others, where as he defies this stereotype through his actions as a sleuth and a hero.

I dont have a webcomic yet but am writing my own story....one character is/was based off of Nightcrawler/Kurt Wagner from X-Men (he's evolved way beyond that...you wouldn't know it at this point) and another character is based off of Rufio from the movie Hook

Sorry to do this, but... it's Cersei not Cercie. Not trying to be rude or anything.

Well the main protagonist of Wednesday7, Mercury Jenkins/Wednesday is based of the kind the mix of the insecure-ish/nerdy Peter Parker/Barry Allen mix, with the confidence/fighting style of Spike from Cowboy Bepop and smart alec attitude of Nick from Zootopia. But in reality, those are actually more like character types that I relate to Mercury, though he wasn't necessarily based on a single one of them.

As for the antagonist (far from being revealed at the moment), in my mind had an appearance very much based on Superman/Clark Kent, but is meant to have a very different, not opposite, but different character than him.

I feel like I ranted way too much on this but yeah, interesting question!

Tula from Demon House is mostly based on my friend, but mixed with a bit of my personality.

Andreas from Heavy Horns is a bit weird, I based his character design off an amalgam of two doujinshis I read (one being a fan-work of Call of Duty, the other an original work of which I thought of my own gender-bent version). His personality didn't develop until I started to draw him more.

Ian from Erie Waters is loosely based on myself and my dad.

I didn't create my protagonist, more of an evil girl! So my antagonist is well.. You know how there's always that 'Queen Bee' in every school? She's like that, except, absolutely devious. She'd rather kill you than admit defeat.

Obviously dealing with a vampire is dangerous business. It all sounds a bit ridiculous but trust me it works. Her look is based off of several anime series I've seen but I guess her biggest draw is my inner ego. I was a mean girl growing up, sorry 'bout it! I love the way she smiles and flicks her whole body in confidence, it's definitely one of the favorite things of my story.

Zack Wandaz my main character is based up on what I want from a protagonist, someone that is straight forward states his goals and fights without giving bullshit dialogue preaching to his opponents
THE LAST SAMURAI

For Crow's Worth2

Crow, he came out of my hatred for Kakashi. So I made a version of him where he was a giant ass.

Miss, she came from an early attempt to write a female character who was not a romantic interest to the MC or a cheerleader. She was alway ment to come off as a bit androgynous.

Two of the main characters in Runewriters (Sev and Jonan) were originally inspired by two close highschool friends of mine! The development of one of the antagonists (Esra) was super influenced by a co-worker that I respected a lot.

I just always found him to be a creep. Plus he's a bit of a Gary Stu IMO. And I never understood why people called him sexy.
I am not a foaming at the mouth hater but I would never put him in a top 10 list of favorite characters from the series.

Well... X (yes that's his name) is not really based on me, but he basically reacts to the situations how I would. And Pio is heavily inspired in Zim from Invader Zim, beign celf centered, loud and completely insane

Everyone of my characters (from Tempest Red2) has different inspirations behind them (be they people, tropes, or just a single emotion I wanted to personify that ended up growing into a character), but none of them are solely a single thing. Sephirisse, my leading lady, is my anxiety, depression, and self doubt personified, which we both learn to deal with. Hywel is a desperately fun seeking bro from a massively abusive relationship (whos original appearance was a combination of Vash the Stampede, Dante from Devil May Cry, and Vincent from Final Fantasy 7). Genro is my husband (in personality), and embodies the sweet, kind hearted, genuine love that I have trouble accepting that I am worthy of. Engel is my friend Angela. Enric is my husband (physically), who used to be based on Camui Gackt, and is now a combination of the two. Adelina was my happy, sweet self that got left behind when depression took over my life, and is based physically on a friend Amanda.

There are many more, but I wont bore you with them haha.

Goon is literally Bunny Foo-Foo (if you added food coloring and a piss poor attitude).

Mun is based off of one of my own cats. Granted, said cat isn't a munchkin (she's a poly-dactyl) but the sass and the "of course I'm amazing" attitude is taken right from her.

Let's say one of my comics Simcats: Most of the characters are based on many different cat breeds, while the protagonist is based on me myself.

I'll just pick a few from SS , but Hanyu is like 9 years old but I've used inspo from a few differen fictional characters along the way to making her how she is now, including Esmeralda and Midna from LOZ Twilight Princess. <3

Amattis is like 3 years old, I treid to be really original but i'll think of Edward Elric from time to time :'D

aaaand Kho's also roughly 9,, and also a character that was sort of half-gifted to me, but I think I drew inspiration from like... a really warped alternate version of Peter Pan I read when I was a kid

I mainly use myself as a point of reference for characters. In my first story2, Mary Ann is based on a younger version of myself. I mean, the kind that would have been allowed to wander off by herself and climb trees... Friend in the story is unashamedly my imaginary friend growing up.

In my second story, Summer is based a little on my own insecurities, so he's a very nervous child that can tell when things are not right. The other two characters are based on their respective tropes ¯_(ツ)_/¯

The protagonist from my comic Voidchild isn't based on any one thing in particular.

She was actually part spawned from a strange bug in a now cancelled mmorpg "City of Heroes" wherein I came up with her backstory and concept. I was playing the beta after I made the character, who was originally male. Then the next time I started it up he'd been gender-swapped and I basically went: "hey, she looks much cooler than that other guy" and stuck with it. ^_^

She does draw some inspiration in demeanour from the character Samuel Aran of the Metroid series. A character I deeply love as a no-nonsense, mysterious character who also manages to feel involved, loving and caring despite a detached persona. But it was never the point to emulate Samus. I think aspects of her just worked her way into Mary as I fleshed out the character. And in case anyone is wondering I do consider Metroid: Other M some form of crime for how they treated my favourite video game protagonist of all time...
