So I've been on tapas since august 2017 when i posted my first comic here and kept posting every week and havent even passed the 25 subscriber mark on that one. while on webtoons, i have passed that mark ages ago

I wanted to know what might be the problem to that. Is it the art style? the "relatable-ness" of the comic? the popularity of this site?

feel free to share your ideas and recomendations. Constructive critsism allowed (only if you know how to, sorry)

Well, I think a big thing about getting out there is to know the website you're posting on and to know how to self-promote.

Let's compare Tapas and Webtoons. Tapas is relatively new compared to the latter and isn't as larger. With its size and it's current status, it's definitely easier to get more feedback and engagement from Webtoons. Though, it doesn't really have a forums like Tapas (I don't believe) where readers and creators can discuss more, so it lacks there.

That also correlates to how you yourself promote your work and how you engage your audience. On either site, are you talking with your readers or engaging them? Have you promoted your work to other places? And, most importantly, have you tried to connect with other creators within the sites or just in general?

The latter is usually a very good method, and luckily, Tapas has this forums that allow you to do so. Connecting and talking with other creators and sharing ideas is a great way to get your story out there. There a lot of cross-promotions here that I think should help out!

There are also a few discords around there floating by for creators, and a lot of us just tend to talk about our work and show it to others.

In any case, I think a good way to increase your engagement is to promote yourself and also be involved with your readers and the site community you're in.

i post my comics on at least 3 others sites and also if i tried asking other creators to check out my comic, it feels like im a beggar and i do not like that feeling.

then cross promotion. for me, that's a fairly new thing since ive cross-promoted 3 times by now but i guess i have to work on that too.

and about discord, i dont know any comic discord servers where i can talk with other artists about stuff so yea

edit: i tend to reply to the comments i receive so theres that and also i have an interactive webcomic that lets the reader and me interact more

Conversing with other creators can become so much more, tho
It can be a bit awkward when you only ask them to check out your work. No one wants to feel like a beggar even though we're not going for that angle. But it gets less awkward when you talk about your work and share ideas with others. Whether those are WIPS, critiques, questions, answers, jokes, whatever! Let it become more like a fun group discussion where everyone's engaged and listening to each other and get excited to see each other's work.

You've already got a good start by interacting with your readers! And that's definitely a good way to get more people into your work.

I believe I can pull up some links to discords posted here (some that are recent):

Only way is to indeed promote yourself in the forums and social media as much as possible. Get people to share your comic and so on! The audience can indeed be different in webtoon (and has a bigger one) but is a bit harder to communicate since lack of forum and such. I post in both too, but I have gotten more traction here (maybe cause I am interacting in the forums? not sure.)

Also I don't find it a form of beggar if people ask me to checkout the comic unless outside of going to my comic comments and asking there. If is via forum or message I tend to check them out and try to give my honest opinion

Thanks for this info, I need to promote and also learn from others more, a discord sound just about right!

i found 2 discord servers like 30 minutes ago and im already friends with 2 or 3 people by now

these are the discords:

after a nice long chat in 4 discord servers, i managed to get views very high, and a few subs too. discord is great
