My usual chapter lengths are around 3,000-4,000 words; around printed-book-length chapters. For the first book I put on Wattpad, I was told this was too long, so I split them up into three parts per chapter.

Due to this, for my second web novel, I decided to reduce the chapter size to about 2,000 words, which is what Wattpad recommends for their website. But when posting it here, I got told Tapas prefers chapters of 1,000 words, so I split them down to two parts each. I don't think I could write a whole chapter in just 1,000 words though.

I suppose a chapter is as long as it needs to be, but it can be a pain when someone complains "the chapter ends abruptly" at the end of Chapter 1 Part 1... (this has happened to me on Wattpad, but not yet on Tapas, admittedly). It's hard to reply, "That's because this isn't the end of the chapter; the chapter is three parts long" without sounding like a colossal bag of feral badgers doused in gravy.

I post 3 times a week and my word count is all over the place, honestly. I write per scene, not for an arbitrary word count and I wasn’t planning on posting he story anywhere when I initially wrote it. So my episodes range from 500-1.4k words, I think. So far, no one has seemed to mind. I do have some longer “scenes” broken down into several (2-6) parts. I did explain in my author note why I have such a variety of lengths, too. I’ve never minded reading stories with varied chapter/episode lengths and I don’t think most other people (here) do, either, but there definitely is that sweet spot of not-too-short and not-too-long

This is, by far, the greatest thing I’ve read all week :joy: :joy: :joy:

I honestly try to still to the 15,000 character limit but I always need up doing a double update to keep my storyline intact. I update weekly, on Fridays, so my readers have the weekend to enjoy the new chapter.

I update monthly with a word count ranging between 700 to 1,500 depending on what the chapter is conveying to the readers. The shorter chapters I refer to as "interludes" and they have big reveals haha. Longer chapters drive the story forward with my world-building and character development! :heartbeat:

I am pleased. This is all I have to bring to the Tapas community: a veritable rainbow of compound insults (towards myself, of course).

I update twice a week, mostly because I write chapters longer than the character limit available for Tapas and to help make it more digestible for phone-readers! Typically I aim for 2k words per finalized chapter, which gets split into around 800 words for one chapter and 1200 for another. I try to have one "long" episode and one "short" episode release per week on Tapas!

My word counts are usually 2,000 - 5,000. I guess it's too long for webnovels. Luckily, though, the one I posted on Tapas has a word count of 400 - 1,200. I don't have a set time to update, so that's that, I guess.

4 years later

I started with 5000-6000 words each chapter but I think splitting the into 4 parts and Lessing content will make me do more professional (it's a cultivation novel it's bound to be long) I intend to post 3 times daily, I honestly really love writing and I see myself doing this years from now even with lil views

:stars: Greetings!

My updates occur weekly and the word count per chapter varies from 1,000 to 2,000 words. Keeping this word length helps me out a lot when I'm facing writer's block and pacing the story. Anything over the max number, I move over to the next or later chapter.

Ican't really say I post daily since I only started 43 hours ago but I intend to post at least 3 times daily with like 3000-4000 in length and it works great for me cause I almost got 500 views

I've been updating daily, and I've been writing at least 1,500 words a chapter. Though admittedly, that's because I'm trying for the AF Tourney.

I try my best to update daily (tho i haven't been doing it lately) and I range from 1800-2600 words a chapter. Occasionally I'll write a chapter too large for a single episode, like yesterday I had a 5500 word chapter which I split into 3 episodes. But that took me a few days to write.

I think my word count around each chapter is around 500 to 1,000 words . Honestly it depends on how my mood is ,some days I can write a good amount down, and others well like my latest chapter is around 407 words mainly because I had a migraine while working on it. I at least try to go for 500

for some reason when writing a chapter, I tried to ensure that it is longer than 1,5k words at bare minimum. ( then again I don't force myself to be on a time constraint )
