!00% definitely. Cartoons are the best, and kids and fun summertime stories are a cartoon staple. I think about cartoons a lot, and am actually studying for an animation degree, so maybe a cartoon about my comic isn't a impossibility one day!

Yess it'd be really interesting! I'd go crazy with music and colors. Full twin peaks!

YEAAAH tv'd be the best adaptation as films tend to cut bits out with the need to condense, while tv programmes have time for character development subplots that are important to the main arc. SARGENTUM's a pretty slow burn anyway, and it'd fit well. i think i speak for everyone when i say i'd be INCREDIBLY picky about casting, costumes, location, any story edits, etc, because it's a weirdly plotted thing but it's MY weirdly plotted thing, u feel

I don't think I'd want Crow Summer to be a TV show (maaaaaybe a mini series… but frankly, I don't know how I'd feel about relinquishing it to someone else and a different medium.)

But my practice comic2? Heck, yeah! I actually wrote it with the TV show episode format in mind, and more than once someone's told me that it reads an awful lot like a sitcom. XD It'd be 2d animated, probably super stylized. I'd be totally chill with all the casting, except I'd want Chris Hemsworth (or someone equally well-known) to play Matt, and some random unknown kid from Alabama to play Stan. Because it'd be hilarious for Chris Hemsworth to constantly get jealous of how famous somebody else is. I have no idea who would watch my show, though.

Yeah, I'd do it if they wanted to turn my comic into and animated series but I'd rather it be when I'm more than halfway done with it, I'd be pretty mad if they jumped ahead of me and butchered it because I already have my ending planned out.

In a heartbeat. This is actually one of my dreams.

Ideally, Autumn Bay would be a live action series on Netflix, AMC, HBO, or something. I'd be cool with an animated adaptation.

Of course, I would maintain the rights to the comic itself and try for an advisory position (or, ideally, be the show runner).

Heck Yeah i would accept! lol
my story is video game themed and has virtual reality gaming in it so it would definitely be an animated series! The music i would want to be EDM all the way cause i feel it would fit better with the theme.

Maybe not. I want the freedom to make what I want.

Making a webtoon might be a happy medium.

It would probably be an animated cartoon! I don't really think my works would work well as a Live action haha

1 month later

the comic i have up now (totally unworthy of linking) might make a good sitcom? maybe??? if it did those freeze frame, narration stuff like with stuck in the middle or lizzie mcguire

but the comic im trying to put together would probably have to be some kinda netflix deal, its a probably bit gay (and transgender for the matter..) for american tv lmao. i think it would be pretty good live action, but granted im still in the planning stage of all this lol

Aetherwar1? I totally would turn it into a feature length film lol. It'll be roughly the write length minus a few scenes perhaps. With a Harry Potter-esque fantasy mixed in with Cthulhuian horror. Hahaha. I think it'd work well

tl;dr answer: Nope*

Seeing how TV tends to treat creators I'd probably pass. Since I'm not pitching it, they'd only be buying the rights to secure the brand for something already in production, not to make my story. The contract would have to be fixed so I'd actually have rights to continue making my own comic, because I'd be surprised if it didn't try to claim exclusive rights in other media. Also, writers rarely have any input into the production process, not without a lot of legal negotiation.

*Exception: For a $h#t ton of money. 🤑

If a company approached me and said they'd like to turn my comic into a show I might decline the offer on a few factors.
Will I have some creative control of it's direction?
Would my fans like it? I'd only really do it if by fan request.
Who or what studio wants to turn it into a show?
Of course do they want to make it into a live action, or something animated?
Though really it depends. I don't want to simply say yes because I'd be excited over the prospect. They could easily screw it over.

Yes, definitely! I always felt my webcomic is more suited for animation, as are almost all of my stories. I'm always ready with TV shows to pitch, actually! Of course, I'd like to have creative control, especially if the webcomic was picked up by a studio before it is finished. I wouldn't mind a live action version, either! It'd be so neat to see the character masks in real life! How much neater would it be if they could film it in Japan, too! So cool! smile

Not unless I had full creative control. It's too easy to twist a message or to oversimplify themes for adaptions.
I'd like to have an animated series a la DCAU but there are some pretty dark and adult themes that I'll be touching on :V

i feel like a lot of ppl here are implying theyd want full creative control if their comics go that way, i know i was,,, ofc ppl would want to be in charge of the production of their comic? that seems obvious
