Like, a real person (a person you've at least met in some way) who inspires your work, or some aspect of it. Have you ever had one, or do you think you ever will?

I would consider myself prone to this, due to the way I interact with other people...surprisingly, though, I can only recall one.

It's this girl I met in high school...she just has this dynamic/preppy/cute aesthetic that I like a lot, and whenever I design a character in that niche I think of her for inspiration. ^^
If you ever see me draw an OC with a sweet smile and wavy brown hair, chances are... ;]

I also have 'minor muses' I use every once in a blue moon when I write overtly romantic stuff...mostly just crushes I've had throughout college. Unfortunately, since I really don't do that very often, by the time I get a chance, all but the most recent crushes have been obliterated from my memory (not being able to see classmates/coworkers due to Covid-19 has not helped...).

I only got two left atm...one is a researcher from where I work (I already have 2 characters inspired by him :love_letter:), and the other is a random classmate from my first year...we worked together on a one-day group assignment, and between the light through the library windows and her golden hair I thought she looked like an angel. :astonished: Like, she had an aura; I can't even recall her name, but the beautiful, breathtaking memory of that sight is burned into my brain...I haven't had a chance to write/draw anything based on that yet, but someday I swear I will and it will be gorgeous...!

I had one in high school. She was the whole reason I got interested in writing. She was the reason I created my first OC, the person who introduced me to fanfiction, and the first person to help me world build. I created the basis for all my stories' world and its magic system. We'd talk for hours, figuring out plots for our characters and crossovers. It was a blast.

Unfortunately, we had a difference in lifestyle choice. I'm dating a woman as a woman and she doesn't agree on that. Still, I wonder what she's up to from time to time.

I've never had a muse. But I have had a mentor, someone I respect, and owe a lot of the progress I've made. If I never worked with him, I wouldn't be here, that's for sure.

I don't know if this counts. But my inspiration came from my old RP Guild back on World of Warcraft. At least to begin with.

They were the ones constantly pushing me to come up with better ideas for my characters. To the point I was writing most of our weekly roleplay storylines. We fell out of touch years ago, but I still base a lot of my characters personalities and quirks on them.

There was one in particular. Raina was her screen name. I've included her as a character in just about every single work I've ever done in some form or fashion.

My animals are my muses. I won't buy every creature under the sun, but every now and then I come by one and I feel a click. A surge of creative energy hits me. So I buy the animal (or adopt, I guess the proper term is since a lot of them come from shelters) and I pamper the hell out of them. And everytime I spend time with them I get hit with that passionate creative energy which I can then channel into my art. That may or may not be why I draw so many animals lol.

This is my most recently adopted animal. She purrs when you place lightweight objects ontop of her.

I don't know if I'll call him a muse or not but I there was one person (a crush) who inspired me to work harder for myself and for achieving things I want in life. Like, I'd be feeling like giving up and just stopping everything altogether, but seeing his work motivated me and cheered me up and helped me work harder for myself.

Never had muse nor mentor, but music replaced them... inspiring, motivating, comforting... without my music collection, I'd probably stop create.

(Oh yeah, and if my wife is ever reading that... of course you too... but we're so close, not worth mentioning it right :innocent:)

I don't necessarily have one muse. I'm not even sure if I would call it a muse but I do get inspiration from people around me but hardly ever is one person the sole inspiration for even just one character. Sometimes I like the way somebody styles their clothes so I try to implement that in an established or new character. Sometimes, but very rarely, I am inspired by personality, but if that happens it's of famous people or well known figures. I get inspired by fiction a lot too, and my own lifestyle, jobs, hobbies, etc... So yeah, I don't have one muse but rather everything I gather from my life I get inspired to write.

Never. I'm probably gonna be weird, but i take absolutely nothing from my boring real life or people in there.

Everything I do is inspired by my imagination or other artists/works, but never by someone I have met in real life.

I have a few muses, but i think the one that stood out the most to me were a ex of mine. Not because of him being my then boyfriend, but because of his interesting appearence and his way of thinking facinated me.
Snow white skin, very prominent face, with a hooked nose and sharp chin, covered in a goatee style beard with a mustache. Often wearing sun glasses due to sensetivity to the sun. Long black hair that hid some of his face, topped with a sixpence. Tall but lanky, often wearing a coat that complimented the rest of his appearence. I often thought that he somewhat looked like a modern vampire PFF. Sometimes i think he thought so too.

I often thought that if a few details were exaggerated, he could be a very beautiful caricature haha!
Edit: I hope for god sake he doesnt scroll through comic forums now lmao. He will know im me PFF

This. A thousand times this. Most of my favorite scenes I have conjured for my series were heavily inspired by the music I listened at that time.

never. I'm inspired solely by other artistic works. my recent explosion of activity came from she-ra (the 2018 reboot) which ticks literally every box of tropes I enjoy while being a surprisingly complex and coolheaded drama action-adventure. it helped me realize all of a sudden that the things I like can be popular and profitable, which is something I had previously accepted was never going to happen - until she-ra, I'd never been a 'fan' of anything. with this momentum, I started my webcomic and an entire universe centered around it

actually, I first picked up my drawing tablet to make she-ra fanart. I'd never made fanart of anything before, but she-ra had pulled me violently from the gradual depression that was setting in from quarantine

has this ever happened to anyone else? like your creativity is dammed up because you believe that no one likes the things you like and then some property proves you wrong

I definitely have a muse! It's uh, not a real person though lol. It's Steppenwolf from DC Comics. He never has had a proper backstory or personality but I became infatuated with him many years ago. I wanted to give him the story he deserves. :heartbeat: (People used to not understand this because he's originally such a minor character that no one gave two flips about. But when they read my work they see how serious I am about creating an original story/universe for him. Also before anyone asks, yes I know about the Synder Cut! We'll see how it is.)

For my current comic i had a muse.......it's a rock that i found in my toy box when i was a kid.....

Don't remember how that rock got there......but after seeing it i got the idea of an inanimate rock that is treated like the greates hero ever by allies and enemies alike and played that.......Then i remembered that idea and turned it into my comic Rocky the Rock.
