i love to write stories, still have a few in development as a comic such as The Thin, but my primary passion is music. i see many talented illustrators and writers on here and i just thought of something: . . . what if i made a theme or any composition/production for someone's series or something for fun lol.
also was wondering if there are other musicians here as well..

If you can't tell from the username, I make games, and one of the many things required for those is music. So yes, I have dabbled in music composing. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have a Bandcamp, though most of the stuff there is pretty old:

And most of the videos on my YouTube aren't specifically about music, but I compose my own music for the videos (speed draws, etc.):

As someone who loves to find new ways to be creative, I've always found music a very vexing area for me. I think being good at music is the closest thing in this world to wizardry. But a few years ago I tried to challenge myself to learn some music theory, how to play a few songs, and messed around composing my own stuff.

Nothing I made was any good but it was a lot of fun! It's so interesting how the creative process feels so different than writing a novel or painting a picture (a least to me). It's something you can get so deeply absorbed in...

I´m drawing comics since 1983 and I´m playing in rock´n´roll bands since 1988.
I play upright bass in 2 bands and I sing & play acoustic guitar in 2 other
bands and I´m the songwriter in all bands.

I work alone most of the time when I draw and so I really enjoy seeing other
people and I also enjoy getting direct feedback from an audience

Every attempt has ended with me facing up to the fact that playing music is not within my physical and mental capabilities.

Or perhaps its more accurate to say that the amount of work I'd have to put in the become merely competent at an occasional pastime wasn't worth the sweat. A tin ear and a bad memory are basically a mountain to climb.

I've written some songs and I want to get into it more, but I think I'm the flip of you. Writing is my primary passion while I also LOVE music.

I've spoken here and there about my music channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo6tDTz93g1FajESdfW0Vug) but I dunno if I've mentioned its accompanying bandcamp account, where I (used to...) post the karaoke versions of all my vocaloid covers, along with full albums of my 'fake game' OSTs: https://dokidokitsuna.bandcamp.com

It's been a while since I added anything new; I've kinda fallen off composing in recent years...oddly enough, I still make music regularly; it's just all WIPs and simple BGM loops for my YouTube essays. ^^;

One of these days, I'll be back-- tbh, I think I was at my best when I made the 'fake game' OSTs; it really felt like a way to express myself creatively and tell a story through a whole new medium. ^^ I've been thinking of doing a Pokemon-inspired one next, but that's still a very young idea.

Lemme tell you, I can relate...looking back, learning to compose was a real uphill climb for me, more than any other art form I had ever attempted. :T I remember when I used to have to hum each note into an online guitar tuner to figure out what it was, before I placed it in the software...thankfully, I managed to train my ear and get rid of that handicap pretty early on. Nevertheless, my music was quite bad for at least the first six months. ^^;

Even now, I consider myself merely 'competent'; I've made plenty of good things but I wouldn't call myself a good composer just yet. In fact, I actually had to retrain myself a bit after my recent hiatus...the skills haven't quite 'stuck' yet. But like I said, I'm sure I'll be back someday...

I used to drum on the school table when I was bored :joy:

I play the piano, used to play the violin, and was in 3 different choirs in my life. Apparently I also have absolute hearing (or whatever it’s called in English) which means I’m able to tell which note it is just from hearing it. Unfortunately I’m kinda sidelining music in favor of drawing, but Christmas is coming so I’ll probably get to practice some Christmas music!

I believe the word you're looking for is "perfect pitch." (Very cool, btw! I'm envious of people with perfect pitch, haha.)

Ah, thank you! I think I knew that sometime, but it slipped my mind.

No. Not really. Though I know how to play the trumpet. Comics are my primary passion, but music is a close second. I love to listen to music and I'm planning on learning how to play the guitar and the piano.

I don’t make music, but I digest it. While listening to music I break it down in my mind, sort of like a spectrum analyzer for each instrument. If I’m not busy I’ll close my eyes and ride that spectrum into space.

When I’m not listening to music, there is music playing in my head. Always. If I’m conscious there is music playing in my mind. Sometimes it’s even good music (I always joke that my internal DJ is an asshole). All it takes is a word or phrase and BOOM, song’s playing in my head. And, just as though I was listening to it for real, I analyze it.

Back in middle and high school I would play whole albums through in my head while sitting in class.
