What was your favorite comic outside of Tapastic?

What were your favorite comics otside of the ones on Tapastic? And how were they an influence in your comics here?

Mine was (and still is) Calvin and Hobbes and XKCD... they ere a HUGE help when it came to the jokes in my comics on Life of a Homeschooler , though the style of the artwork was not as big an influence... that was really a mix of anything I could find.

I really loved the Archie comics as a kid (still do). Not sure if they've influenced me at all in my comics but I had a lot of fun reading about Archie and the gang.

EDIT: There are a couple of comics I read outside of Tapastic and the ones that stand out to me right now are Paranatural and Sakana.

You mean outside webcomics? or just outside tapastic cause outside tapastic it's Beret (www.beretcomic.com) and outside webcomics it's probably Tellos or Bone.

Outside webcomics:
Calvin & Hobbes, which was actually the first comics I ever read!
Black Jack by Osamu Tezuka, which is mostly an episodic medical drama, but a LOT better than it sounds <3 (I'd like to do a medical webcomic myself... I have some ideas in mind but it'd be hard to surpass Tezuka)

I'm generally not into action/superhero comics. I like stories about strange things happening to people, and sometimes thought-provoking things too, like in the case of the latter two comics. ^ w ^

I haven't reaed it in a long time but it is amazingly done and very good. Although, like most American comics, it is very wordy.

Well in Web Comics "DICE the cube that changes the world", besides web comics, if we talk about western comics Spider man, Spawn, Fables, Calvin and Hobbes, anything from the Mexican cartoonist TRINO and Saga, if we talk about manga Rurouni Kenshin, Zetman and Ranma 1/2

About webcomics, I like Beyond the Western Deep, Parallax and now Awaken.

For other comics, I like Shiori Teshirogi's style for Saint Seiya: the Lost Canvas, Shaman King, the humor of Ranma 1/2, the diagramation of CLAMP's Card Captor Sakura and Stuart Immonen's art for X-Men.

I really like DOGS Bullets and Carnage by Shirow Miwa.
I learned a lot from his art though our styles don't look identical as much anymore since I learned to develop my own.

Print comics would be The Saga of Rex, Blacksad, Rat Queens, Legends of the Dark Crystal, and a large number of superhero books.

Webcomics would be Wilde Life, A Redtail's Dream, and Cucumber Quest

I'm inspired by the colours that they use, their art styles and the fantastical worlds that the comics are set in.

Bone and Tellos are amazing book. Jeff Smith is one of my inspirations for Oops.
Any book by Doug Tennapel is also amazing! Creature Tech, Cardboard, RatFist all great.

Outside of Tapastic, I'm a fan of All Night, and Anacrine Complex.

There are so many good comics, what to choose?!

Recent years on Comixology I've found Bone and Locke&Key.
As inspiration for my own comics I like Lenore and Liberty Meadows. I also read Wonder woman, but not as an inspiration for my own comics, I just like the character and all that she stands for

Definitely Stand Still, Stay Silent (a really good post-apocalyptic comic set in the Nordic countries) and Todd Allison and the Petunia Violet (awesome character-driven story set in early-1900s Australia). They're both amazing!
Oh, also Emily Carroll's comics. They're creepy and awesome.

Avas Demon. I'd reccomend this comic to anybody. It's absolutely gorgeous, has an amazing plot and remarkable characters. Very unique worlds and I always seek out eagerly for the next update. The way the comic's formatted too can only work in it's original site which is why you probably wouldn't find it on other host sites.

I still go back to my old Betty and Veronica comics. They're marvels in pacing, layout, expression, and simplicity. Great stuff.
Another creator described Groovy, Kinda as "Archie Comics for adults." I was very flattered.
Right now I'm plowing through "SPQR Blues," a soap opera set in Ancient Rome. Well researched, nicely drawn, with a dry sense of humor that I love.
Other non-Tapastic faves are Princess Chroma, M9 Girls, DadRockGirlPop, Bohica Blues, and Doodling Around.

I was reading webcomics long before I discovered Tapastic, so I will add a couple to this list:

Everblue Great artwork, really intriguing story about adventure, flying boats, mystery and friendship.
Unsounded This story is very original and dark (I love it!). Very interesting characters. You never know what will happen next!
The Archipelago I mentioned this in s previous post. The artwork starts out a little rough (which will often put me off) but the story was too interesting to give up on it. Adventure, romance, danger...it's all there.
Girls with Slingshots and Menage a 3 are great fun and update multiple times a week, as well! Girls with Slingshots is ending soon, but you have about 10 years of archives to go through, and Menage a 3 (NSFW) also links you to several other spin off comics by the same authors/artists.

When you ask for the favorite comics outside of Tapastic, are you talking about comics only? or is manga included?
Because from what i have seen, most comics here are manga influenced.

just anything you used to, and/or currently, reading before you found out about Tapastic, so manga (or even just regular books with good illustrations if you want, I don't know...) would be fine.
