Conventionally Unattractive Characters?

I'm not talking about minority characters or characters that aren't supermodel gorgeous. Average people typically aren't "ugly" even though they may not be especially attractive. I'm talking about characters with a giant nose or tons of acne or are really fat or bone thin or anything like that.

Mine is the main character of my comic. I guess he's not that unattractive, but he does have a unibrow which typically isn't seen as attractive. He's also pretty overweight from alcohol and cakes.

I have one character who's super ugly called Ba'ab Gaya. She's the main character, but definitely not a good guy! (Not in the current webcomic I'm working on, in another one which I've had in my head for a while)

OH for my intentionally unattractive characters, I'd have to go back to 2011 with a graphic novel about a soccer/football team from a fictional Central Asian country.

Beni is the goalkeeper. I made him a bit dorky-looking, with acne, ears that stick out, and a cowlick. But he really is the heart of the team.

The other one is Tokki, one of the forwards. I intentionally made him a contrast to the other regular forward who is attractive and a bit full of himself. But they both get along well enough~

I still think they're both cute in their own way!

My MC's love interest isn't particularly attractive. He's still in his teens has the features to become attractive when he grows into them. For example, thick eyebrows, a broadish long nose, and square jaw. I kinda modeled him after Adam Driver who I find unintentionally attractive.

I did it all traditionally before I ever even knew what webcomics were. Maybe I'll put it up in the future but for right now I'm only offering it as a pdf in my store.

But I myself had only two conventionally unattractive (episodic) characters so far:

I tried. But for making a character with an enormous toucan nose, freckles, a hollowed out skull-face, lantern jaw, dead snake eyes, awful teeth, grandpa hairstyle and wrinkles I wound up with a hottie on my hands. It's the smile. Characters with a genuine smile are hard to make ugly.

She hasn't appeared in my comic yet, but my character Deirdre isn't conventionally attractive. She's a big strong gal. Things will also happen to her that will "worsen" her appearance, but she will never be ridiculed for it. I also have plenty of other characters with strange features but she's the most important one.

In my current comic, all the main characters are circles, so... yes?

But I have plans for other stories. I definitely want to do a few with different body types and appearances. Does anyone have any advice as to how to sensitively go about approaching this? Especially in regards to women (etc), but I am but a boy.

In my comic I have this guy Bone, and although he's looks like a skeleton, he's actually pretty rad. I feel like I have a tendency to draw everyone attractive, so I'm trying to branch out. (-v-;; )

I guess Noodle Nome. Tho I think he is sort of freakishly cute.

His eyes are huge compared to the other characters and his is the only recurring character with pupils. He has no eyebrows and huge nostrils. He sort of looks like one of those troll dolls.
