I often just have the TV on in the back, when drawing, just to have some noise. When I listen to music when drawing I get very easily distracted. That being said, when I'm in the mood to liten to music, when drawing, I tend to listen to music without vocals. I tend to sing a long, which - again - would be distracting. ^^ So I pull out my movie soundtracks, game soundtracks, electro swing remixes by great youtubers and then I start. At the moment my favourites include the Jet Set Radio OST and Undertale Electro Swing Remixes. When it comes to more epic music the Akira Soundtrack is an all time favourite
I always draw while listening to music, unless someone’s using my headphones, which happens quite often XD.
I love listening to musical cast recordings, now I’m listening to Anastasia’s, the Hunchback of Notre Dame and Dear Evan Hansen. Yep, I’m kinda a musical theatre nerd.
On the other hand I also listen to punk/pop and rock songs. My fav bands a Fall Out Boy, Panic! At the disco (I’m obsessed with LA Devotee right now) Imagine Dragons and Bastille.
I actually HAVE to play music while writing, as each of my chapters is loosely based on a song from the protagonist's mix cd. It takes place in the late 90's so all the music is from '99 or earlier. This is the latest chapter but I think every chapter is fun, I hope you can check it out!
Check out "Chapter 8: Seether" from The Kursed.

I'm apparently still stuck in the mid 2000's cause I listen to a lot of MetalCore, CrunkCore, Electronicore....just pretty much anything that ends in the word "core". IE A LOT of Nu Metal. However, I also listen to a lot of Alt rock, Pop Rock....like the softer stuff. Like SafetySuit, Parachute...etc.
I'm really random with my music. I'll literally go from listening to Hollywood Undead, to SafetySuit, and they really couldn't be much more different types of music if they tried.
I like to listen to instrumental music generally, solo instruments (piano, cello) with accompaniment over orchestral. I love instrumental adaptations of pop songs or other music and can listen to those for a long long time... however I do adjust it based on what I'm writing. For example, when writing the chase scene in my current novel I listened to Attack by 30 Seconds to Mars for like an hour on loop XD
Also while I'm here I wanted to plug my collaborator's piano music - I think he makes AMAZING piano covers and originals, and his youtube channel gets way too little love! I actually reached out to him originally just to use one of his songs as background music coz I loved it soooo much, and we ended up collaborating!! Here it is:
I almost always listen to video game music. The instrumentals are perfect for setting moods and dont distract you with vocals. Pokemon mystery dungeon games have pretty good theme music. They always feel like your on a grand adventure with very high stakes.
Oneshot also has good music but most of those songs are heavy and somber. Usually a good mix of melancholy and cheer, painting an image of the 'world is ending but life goes on and do you want some cookies'
Okami has music which is very traditional and sounds like it came out of an old epic tale.
It really depends on the mood! I have a HUGE spectrum of music I like listening to: I could go from Evanescence to Top 40 hits to Frank Sinatra or even big cinematic musical numbers. For my current comic I like to put on dark indie music with a bit of a dark twist (think Banks' Waiting Game), but there are some pieces where I'm bopping along to trap music or even Cardi B!
Could never put on the TV or a show, I get distracted and want to see what's happening
I always listen music while I draw or coloring. It is important especially at the coloring part, because doing it for hours can be boring. I usually listen my youtube playlist, albums and compilations. I like dreampop, shoegaze and indie compilations, but sometimes I listen 80's, 90's music. I have some fav bands too. For example Keane, Coldplay, The killers, Beach House, Alvvays are good for coloring. I even have a story I wanna draw (or write) influenced by Coldplay's Ghost Stories album.
I listen to music mostly when I'm brain storming. Because most of my drawings ar character oriented I find that certain songs help set the mood for what they are doing. For a high energy character I might listen to chiptunes or dubstep. For something more serious I would use more orchestral stuff.
Usually I listen to video game music or other things with out lyrics. That way I don't get distracted comparing my subject with the words.
Favorite type and what I listen to while drawing are both pretty much alt. Rock, with different random songs and genres splashed in xD
Favorite band is too hard so I'll just drop one I've been listening to a lot lately: White Reaper discovered them for the first time at a music festival a few months ago and really dig their sound~
