I've found with country my issues lie in the newer country, also called "Stadium COuntry". I like johnny cash, and Dolly Parton, but a lot of the post 9/11 country artists fell really heavily into pandering to the working class without putting any actual soul into their music. That said, I have quite a few "country" artists that classify themselves as folk. "The Dead South" and "Stick and Poke" are some great examples of modern country done right.
Tik-Tok did not ruin your favorite song. New fans did not ruin your favorite artists//bands.
Whenever someone goes "I hope Tik-Tok doesn't find this song" or hopes their favorite artists/bands stay underground, I give a side-eye. Like yeah -- we all have our favorite songs. We all have groups that are special to our hearts.
But they aren't making music just for us.
I dunno -- if I replay the same song 1000 times in a row without getting sick of it, a fleet of 1000 new fans repeating that same song will not ruin it for me.

Ok first off I don't really see anything unique about these singers tbh, yes they got that voice that allows them to sing but what they are singing about I don't care of.

For me personally I don't believe they should of put people at there lowest point at the top and then you have people who respect them selves at the bottom. I don't hate them I just don't like how they presented themselves to the world and people actually like to see that.
I love Sa-Roc, Rapsody and many more that are like them because they respect themselves and there music is fire.

I don’t understand the concept of stanning an artist or even hating someone so much that you harass them or their fans. Listening to music is such a casual thing for me. I listen to the radio and stuff on YouTube, I never been motivated enough to buy someone’s album. Usually in my free time, I prefer podcasts over music.
I myself don't understand that either as well, for me I may not like certain artistes but to have a ball of hate towards them is hard, to hate someone they must've done something towards you that angers you, at least that's what I see it as.
And to start harassing them or their fans it shows of who you really are as a person and you gotta have the guts to do that as well but that's just my intake
When I was young, there were, perhaps, three channels on the radio dial. They played popular music: a mix of folk, rock, and country. I liked King of the Road as much as Dock of the Bay. Then I grew up. I turned to rock and Motown. I liked Three Dog Night, Diana Ross, The Ventures, etc. I dropped it all and went to classical. Of course, in those years, I really only listened to music when someone else had their radio going. I moved to Barbershop Quartet, then Gospel, and settled on world music, Celtic in particular. I've been around the block, but I am more of a melody person and care less about lyrics. I'm the guy who will say, "That would be great if he just didn't sing." I can see a fine line between certain genres. I like folk and bluegrass, but country gives me a headache. I like New Orleans style Jazz but not the endless riffing and rambling of club jazz. And rap -- is that even music? When I hear someone driving along in their car with all their boom boom vibrating the windows in my house and listing a lengthy tirade of vitriol, I think to myself, someone needs a good Irish channel. My unpopular opinion, like anyone's, is built on my personal choices. I am not against another person choosing to listen to music I would not, I am against being forced to hear it.
I don't get stan culture, or at least the extreme version of it (like some of the stuff happening in kpop/ jpop). Why some people devote so much of their time and energy to follow bands/ singers that it ends up consuming them. Superfans put their favs on a pedestal, and hate any kind of criticism be it about their music or behaviour. Some stans are so delusional and invested in the lives of strangers they will defend rapists, abusers and cannibals.
Music is something I enjoy immensely but I'm not that interested in the people who make it. I'll google them to make sure an artist isn't a complete trashbag, but that's it. I haven't stanned since I was little.

70s music hits different. not the stuff you hear on the radio on a classic rock channel, but the artsier stuff, the stuff that you find when you push away all the top 40 hits. progressive rock was king and i don't think you'll ever have such genuine interest in music for the sake of artistry again.
also prog rock isnt pretentious, but the fans DEFINITELY are. sheesh, the amount of people who act like yes and genesis going pop was tantamount to betrayal...
Came here to defend Nickelback but that good work's already been done, so I'll say this instead: Justin Bieber's actually a pretty good singer. (say what you will about the person, but his songs are nice and pleasant to listen to)
Here's mine: Yes, k-pop fans can be creepy but not all of us are like that and obsessively hating on k-pop is just as cringe. It's fine not to like cutesy vocals/tunes but calm tf down. (If anything, we should all be focusing more on how uh... I don't know, corrupt the k-pop industry is?)
I like to buy best of albums for older artists and if I really like a certain song I will buy the album that it's on, but if I don't I wont buy it at all.
I agree. K-pop isn't my cup of tea, but I like a lot of things that are popular amongst fans, if that makes sense. Basically, I know/am friends with a heck of a lot of K-pop fans, and if you bash my friends I will be sad.
I live in the Northwest, but don't see the appeal of Nirvana or the Flaming Lips. They look and sing like snakes.

Paul has good vocals but bad lyrics. John has a weak voice but good lyrics. Nobody beats George. Ringo is underrated.
I seem to be part of a dying breed of folks who still find value in CDs. Granted my regular listening has leaned more and more towards Spotify in recent years (as well as the radio, which I've always been a fan of having on most of the time) but I still like to buy CDs from time to time to listen to in the car, especially on long car trips. If I want to support a band after a concert I'll often buy their CD from the merch booth. I'm also a sucker for novelty sets such as video game OSTs and the like. Special/Collector editions that contain full OSTs are a sizable selling point for me (although if it's just a 10-track sampling or whatever, meh).
Bruh! I love CDs too! I have about 60-70 of them and have this ritual where I put several papers in a box with artists written on them, and pull one out so I listen to a new one every time. I love to listen to a full album while I work.

Modern Country is trash. There hasn't been a good country song written after 2008. All of'em these days are either about sex, parties, or superficial 'country' traits like tractors, farms, or small towns. None of these have the heart and soul, and most importantly stories of classic country. Songs like Fancy and Rose in Paradise were actual stories with characters that made you feel and care, not just these glorified pop songs that rock the radios today.
Course, that's just my opinion.
