Depends of the age rating of the story.

I am okay with swearing in stories aimed at an adult audience, but on a kid friendly story, swearing is a big no in my book.

My character, Shilo: Says literally anything

Easily offended viewers:

I can totally see why it was rejected as an ad that would be rather public, but on a personal level, yeah, I don't give a shit

Just in case anyone was curious. Instagram allows you to choose the age rating. I chose 21+ like I normally do for my ads.

It's piqued your interest, btw. But there was actually no need to write shitty here, it just looks plain unnesessary  The @$#÷ part is a bit strange to be rejected though, hehe.

I didn't want to correct the artist because their English was pretty poor. So I just left it as is to avoid any confusion.

I can see that.

Profanity's in a weird space for me. Around kids and formal or religious settings are the most obvious places where I'd personally say it's not okay. Otherwise, just go off. Overusing profanity is much worse than the actual words themselves imo

To some extent no. I personally don't swear much but don't mind people swearing. Though it kinda annoys me, when someone cannot build one sentence without profanity between every word.

It depends? XD If I'm at work and you're cursing like a sailor, I would probably consider you pretty unprofessional. If we're just chilling together in a public outing or at home, I wouldn't care.

Personally speaking, I’m not fond of profanity. I’m not clutching my pearls if someone drops the f-bomb or says ‘shit’ once in a while.
But I tend to shy away from people who drop profanities like confetti all over the place. Especially when combined with constant rants or angry speech. Profanities used in a positive or goofy way like ‘That’s fucking awesome’ or ‘this is the shit’ is not that offensive or off putting to me. But still not something I wish to hear in every sentence.

Why do I feel like this? It just gives me a weird picture of you and your brand. I don’t think people who swear a lot are bad people. Don’t get me wrong.
But it comes off to me as brash, angry and aggressive. And since I’m introverted and shy, I don’t take too well to that behavior when it comes from an unknown person.

I think it depends. I usually am not bothered by it but I think there are situations where I am not fond of it.

Like people who over do it sometimes come off as really annoying or people who are trying way too hard to be edgy. It just reminds me of immature teens who say the f-bumb five times in a sentence because they want to look cool. It's just really obnoxious.

I am also not fond of people who yell them at young kids, especially the ones that tend to be more sexual. That is sort of messed up. I also have no issue with media that is profanity free because not everyone wants to hear or read that.

Personally, I do curse some but probably not as much as the average adult. People have called me "wholesome" because of it. My comics have very mild profanity like damn and bitch. However I do have some character that say "F-d" or "F***", spelled out like that.

Profanity doesn’t even register as I’m reading (novels and comics) and half the time not even audibly in a conversation.

As soon as there’s kids around? I go all Captain America, yelling, “language!” at anything stronger than “ass.” :joy:

It does not offend me at all, but there is a time and place. As a creator, it’s hard to gauge where that line is, sometimes.

It depends for me. If someone casually swears I don't really care. But if it gets to the point where every other word is some kind of profanity, it starts to annoy me. It's not just nice to listen. I also swear, more so when I'm alone than with people. I've been taught it's not good to swear so I really can't do it around people. But when I'm alone or annoyed I'm very fluent in profanities.

I also don't mind swearing in writing either if it fits the character and again isn't used too excessively.

Profanity doesnt offend me, but there's a time and place for everything. I usually try to taper the amount of profanity I use unless unless I'm agitated or upset about something- that's when the curse words start to fly...

When writing comics, I try to keep it clean unless a scene really calls for it...I've used mild stuff like "hell"(as in "holy hell!") to somewhat borderline stuff like "damn" or "dammit" - to "bitch". I dont think I'll be using the f-bomb, or "shit" coz I'm trying to keep it as tame as I can.

I don't really care about swearing in my media as long as it's not overused, and fits the character.

IRL it can be really jarring though.

None shit and @$#÷ can offend me because I'm Russian. Sweet people of taps, you don't know what profanity is if you havent heard rusians slightly mentioning your distant relatives... In fact I even had troubles while looking for some curse words in english - there are so few...

i would consider promoted instagram posts to fall within the realm of "professional", so it's probably less about being offended and more about being unprofessional.

I don't really care if someone does it. Some people just do them naturally once in a while. It does irk me when people do it to look cooler or edgy or whatever. That is when it becomes cringey.
